The closure of the Tilbury to Gravesend ferry last year was a huge loss for our area.

Having existed in some form for hundreds of years, the ferry was a small but crucial part of local public transport infrastructure, providing a vital link between Thurrock and Gravesham.

I know how valued the ferry was by local residents. Growing up here, I have many fond memories of using the ferry with family, and I’ve loved taking my own children for day trips across the river.
